Wine Highlight: Soalheiro Primeiras Vinhas Alvarinho

Today’s Wine Highlight Soalheiro Primeiras Vinhas, Alvarinho, its wine's roots trace back to the estate's very first vineyard, planted in the year 1974. It doesn't stop there; Soalheiro has ingeniously blended grapes from other vineyards that are over 30 years old. These are scattered across the regions of Monção and Melgaço and are tended by a community of 150 families, all part of Soalheiro's Grapegrowers Club.

What is truly fascinating is the harmonised harvest. Grapes from these older vineyards, along with those from the inaugural 1974 plot, are handpicked and coordinated to be collected on the exact same day. This meticulous approach adds an extra layer of complexity to the wine, making Primeiras Vinhas not just a cornerstone in Soalheiro's range but also a force to be reckoned with in the preservation of the region's historical vineyards.

It's a fascinating narrative bottled into each glass, and I believe it adds a unique richness that sets this Alvarinho apart.
